The role
We are seeking a skilled Hardware Engineer to join our Power conversion component team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in electrical systems engineering, simulation, and validation to support hardware design, quality, and product management activities.You will be responsible for understanding and evaluating hardware work packages (WPs) under HWJRs, reviewing schematics, supporting suppliers and quality teams, and managing technical risks related to semiconductors and electronics components.
Responsibilities- Understand and evaluate all work packages (WPs) under HWJRs related to Power Box hardware components.
- Review and analyse electrical schematics, EMC considerations, PCB layouts, and system designs.
- Provide technical support for VIRA and collaborate with suppliers to manage 8D reports and quality issue resolutions.
- Assess and manage the technical impact of semiconductor shortages on ongoing projects.
- Support GDLs with technical content for Change maangement
- Take technical ownership for electronics and mechanical issues, new feature requests, and product management activities.
- Develop and review Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Design Validation (DV) / Production Validation (PV) test plans.
- Coordinate and agree on DV and PV test plans with suppliers, ensuring compliance with Volvo standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure robust design and timely delivery of high-quality components.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related field.
- Proven experience with electrical schematic review, PCB design, and EMC principles.
- Strong understanding of hardware validation processes, including DV/PV testing and FMEA methodologies.
- Experience with supplier quality management and handling of 8D reports.
- Familiarity with semiconductor component technologies and supply chain challenges.
- Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems and automotive industry standards is a plus.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills, capable of collaborating with global teams and suppliers.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
